Confirmed Speakers

Blake Ross, creator of Firefox, internet Browser
Drew Lustro,

I goto UC Berkeley and just finished my freshman year there. I am a computer science major but would double major in art if I had the time. I don't exactly get great grades but I am culturally emerssed enough which I feel is more important. In other words, I may not know the most but I can survive an interview better than a sex starved, introverted, straight-A nerd. I enjoy designing and printing clothes via silkscreen with my development organization, the media science. I also skimboard and do various applied art for the hell of it including stenciling and painting. Ska, punk, and indie are a must as far as music. Of course, applied web development is a huge interest of mine. I created Makeshiftonline which is a fast growing online community that kicks ass.

Dalton Caldwell,
Dalton Caldwell is the Founder/CEO and VP of Engineering, imeem, inc.

Recognizing the power and pervasiveness of Instant Messaging technology while earning dual degrees in Psychology and Symbolic Systems at Stanford, Dalton developed and drives imeem’s innovative engineering and technical operations.

Dalton focused his thesis on "Extending instant messaging for collaboration in the workplace," and in late 2003, he teamed with Jan Jannink to build an application around instant messaging that would do much more than just chat.

Before founding imeem, Dalton worked on open-source Jabber IM tools and developed communications software for VA Software (formerly VA Linux). His blog can be found at:

Ramit Sethi,
Ramit Sethi is an entrepreneur, author, and speaker. He consults on emerging technologies, investments, and persuasive technology to venture capital firms and private foundations, and is currently co-authoring a book advising companies how to recruit top college students. He was the chief researcher for "Free Prize Inside," a book on marketing and innovation that was featured on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. He has founded two companies and developed a personal-finance curriculum that he has taught around the country; his Web site, IWillTeachYouToBeRich.com, was also featured in the Wall Street Journal. More information: http://www.RamitSethi.com. Email address: ramit@ramitsethi.com

Wendell Davis,
Wendell Davis began his long relationship with technology by writing letters to illegal software dealers whose names and addresses were stowed away in cracked versions of Commodore 64 software. This activity subsequently leading to the plethora of strong European developer contacts. Harnessing these connections, Wendell later went on to produce several successful videogame titles for the Gameboy Advance (GBA) platform and co-founded (and continues to consult for) the interactive graphics and software company Zephyr Syndicate. Aside from his activities with Meetro, Wendell co-manages the development of ActiveWiki, a next-generation application wiki, and in his free-time writes Smalltalk applications for Children in the "Squeak" environment.

Mike Li,

Mike graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Before starting 6th Sense he worked in a number of different companies, including IBM, Accenture, and several startups. Mike is an avid traveler (most recently India), and tries hard to squeeze in the occasional game of tennis. Having missed the last tech boom, he is patiently waiting for the next one.

Todd Masonis,

Todd Masonis is founder and Vice-President of Products for Plaxo. As co-founder of Plaxo, Masonis has appeared on CNBC’s morning investors show Squawk Box and has spoken at technology industry events for the Software & Information Industry Association and Stanford University, among others.

Prior to founding Plaxo, Masonis was co-founder of two start-ups, netElement and Natient Technologies. He also served as a systems developer with e-steam, Inc. Masonis received a Bachelor of Science in Symbolic Systems with a concentration in Computational Linguistics from Stanford University.

David Xue,
David Xue is the founder of PixPulse.com, a new mobile media network for sharing live in-the-moment photos and videos. Pixpulse supports all mobile providers for media sharing, geo-tagging and allows people to broadcast their own mobile media channel. Our goal is to help people easily share daily life experiences using mobile devices.

History

We started out with a simple idea. Because it is always exciting to see what young entrepreneurs create, we wanted to initiate a conference especially geared toward these college students and young professionals. We didn't want attendants to pay a lot of money to meet old people in a stuffy setting. Rather, together with BASES, we wanted to host a free event that provides a chance for young adults to gain some exposure, knowledge, and inspiration not only to the tech industry, but to what it’s like being your own boss.

Why 27?

After extensive research and studying trends, we found that most successful entrepreneurs have been under 27

Here's what you should get out of this conference:

  • Learn how our speakers did what they did, the challenges they overcame, what motivated them, and what they are doing now.
  • What it is like to run your own company
  • Meet other people with similar ideas and passions

Mission

Mission Statement:

At Entrepreneur 27, we aim to

  • Create an open forum for the stimulation and exchange of ideas
  • Generate opportunities to learn and inspire each other
  • Promote entrepreneurship in the technology area
